Good News! Trends From Your Childhood Are Back!
Early childhood trends seem to be coming back in fashion, beauty, and life in general. I have been seeing rainbow color palettes and early 2000s trends come back in recent years. I did the math, and color + the year 2000 = the things I used to wear when I was growing up.
I’m the type of person who believes fashion should make you happy, so the return of these funky and colorful trends has made my heart absolutely tingle.
Hair Clips
This is a small and subtle way of incorporating youthful accessories into your look. I get all my hair clips from Claire’s because they’re cheap and have such a wide variety. I like to be more over-the-top in small ways, which is why I love these chunky glitter clips—they add a little touch of extra.
2. Susan Alexandra anything.
I can’t express how joyful looking at these pieces makes my heart feeeeeel! Susan Alexandra has such fun accessories ranging from jewelry to cardholders. The hoop earrings especially bring me back to my 8th birthday party, when I had everyone make their own jewelry by picking out beads. I love the idea behind her brand, and she is sure to satisfy any early childhood cravings.
3. CLOGS!
Ok, now this is probably my favorite thing that I have seen come back into my life. When I was in elementary school, I had a killer pair of pink clogs embroidered with a ‘50s poodle and diner girl wearing a pair of roller skates. These Jeffrey Campbell cow print clogs are a cute and modern way to wear the look, which can sometimes look not so chic.
4. Color Tinted Lenses with Crystals
Do you guys remember those sunnies from Limited Too with the colored lenses and little crystal designs? I know, I miss them too. I felt like such a boss wearing these sassy sunglasses when I was only 8 years old. Looking back over 10 years later, they still look sick. Marc Jacobs released a few small frames with colored lenses earlier this fall. If you acted quick enough after they dropped, you could have gotten them customized with crystal designs at their Madison Avenue store in New York City.
5. Tie-Dye Things
If you didn’t spend your summer making DIY tie-dye at summer camp… you missed out. I remember making tye dye EVERYTHING whenever we were blessed with this arts and crafts activity. I made t-shirts, pillowcases, socks—you name it. I feel so happy that this trend is coming back, and I honestly hope it never dies down.
