Posty's Posted Up in Utah

Austin Post, better known as Post Malone, has moved straight out of Los Angeles and into the Northern Mountains of Utah. Malone found his oasis in the suburbs of Salt Lake City, and after moving away from Hollywood, he released Hollywood’s Bleeding, an album that was largely influenced by his relocation.

Posty made a huge ripple in the music industry when he announced that he was officially moving to Utah in September of 2019 as it is a place that few artists dream of moving to.

In Spotify’s Enhanced Album Feature, Post said that his new album explains why he left LA.

His lyrics in Hollywood’s Bleeding explain exactly why the City of Angels became something he didn’t want to be a part of:

Hollywood’s bleeding, vampires feedin’

Darkness turns to dust,

Everyone’s gone, but no one’s leavin’

Nobody left but us.

“I finally made the move out of LA and I moved to Utah,” Post said. “I feel like in LA and Hollywood there’s such a strange vibe to where it feels like there’s a lot of vampires out there that just want to suck the life out of you.”

Stoney told Variety that Utah is his new “oasis” and that it has given him insight on the true nature of LA residents. “I feel like a lot of people want to be somebody. They’ll use every last piece they can get out of you to better themselves and not think about anybody else,” Posty told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in an interview.

On the Road is another one of his songs that touches on the Los Angelenos he disliked:

'Cause they ain't never seein' me fold under pressure

They ain't never, ever seen me fold, nah, never

Always keep one up on 'em 'cause I'm too clever

I would never, ever sell my soul, nah, never

'Cause I been on the road, been on the road, I

Quit actin' like you been with me this whole time

On the Road goes back to the narrative of the record. It’s like, you know, thought you were my friend, but you were just a fake bitch, to put it bluntly. A lot of people act like they had something to do with everything, but you really worked your ass off and they sat back and said, ‘Yeah I was there, I helped out.’ Really it turns out that you were only around for the perks of being my friend, not really there for my genuine love and pure comedy that I give to you,” Posty told Spotify.

Stoney also told Variety that spending time in Utah has really helped him with his anxiety.

HYPEBEAST

“Being in Utah and being away from the grind and from everybody else and it’s just me with my video games and a cold one—that feels good to me,” he explained.

Malone purchased his Apocalypse ready home (yes, his house is fully equipped and ready for the end of the world) last year for 3 million dollars, as reported by TMZ.

It’s a 5-bed, 6-bath, 12,702 square-foot mansion that includes a fire pit, basketball court, wine cellar, gym, hot tub, and recording studio. And—get this—the home is equipped with 30 bunk beds for his friends…

Post Malone is my favorite artist (if you couldn’t already tell), and how honest he has been about the motivation behind his move has made me adore him even more. Moving somewhere he really connects to and getting away from the LA and Hollywood scenes shows how he has set himself apart from every other artist of his caliber.

His mansion is located in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.

So, Austin Post, this is me formally inviting myself to a sleepover in your ‘end of the world’ home. Thank you, and I’ll await my invitation in the mail.

Catch me booking myself a flight to Utah. Maybe I’ll just happen to catch him on the block like he’s Mutumbo—750 Lambo in the Utah snow. 😉
