Adore Your Pattern: My Go-To Products for Curly Hair
For years, I have been trying to find hair care products that will care for my curls as much as I do. At times, it can be difficult to find good quality hair care for a reasonable price. As a curly girl with a 4A hair type, I have struggled with trying to keep my hair moisturized for more than a day without drowning my hair in products. A couple of months ago, I caved in and bought Tracee Ellis Ross’s hair care line: Pattern Beauty. Personally, it was a game-changing purchase.
I purchased the Pattern Beauty On-The-Go Kit which includes the hydration shampoo, heavy conditioner, and leave-in conditioner. It is a good purchase if you are looking to try new products for your hair and don’t want to pay an excessive amount of money for it.
A couple of weeks after my purchase, I chose to try out the products for my wash day. I had planned to only use the three products in the kit without the use of any other hair products to see how effective Pattern Beauty is.
First, I went in and washed with the hydration shampoo. It is very light, so if you have thicker hair you may need to use a little more than average. After washing, my hair was extremely soft and clean. I did not have to go in for a second wash which I normally have to do with my regular shampoo. The only issue that I had with the hydration shampoo was that it was not actually hydrating. My hair dried out a little bit, but not excessively so I still find it to be a good product.
The second product that I used after washing my hair was the heavy conditioner. Personally, when I am conditioning my hair, I leave it in for about 10 to 15 minutes to maximize moisturization and to help with any damage that I may have caused to my hair. After that, I detangle my hair with a detangling brush and rinse. Once I am finished, I wrap my hair up in an old t-shirt before I start styling it. I found this conditioner to be extremely moisturizing after taking my hair down from it being wrapped up in a t-shirt. My hair was still very soft and it did not feel dry whatsoever. I recommend this conditioner even if you choose to use a different shampoo for your wash.
The last product I used was the leave-in conditioner. I went in and sectioned my hair, applied the product, and detangled once more before twisting. Once I was finished, I put my hair in a bonnet and hoped that it would keep my hair moisturized without the use of other products. The next morning, after taking my twists out I was shocked. My hair stayed soft and moisturized and my twist out looked so good. I highly recommend this product to those who are looking for something to lock in moisture for their curls.
This is how my hair came out after using all three products without the use of any other hair products.
After using these three products, I can personally say I will be purchasing from Pattern Beauty again. These are amazing products for all of my curly-haired people out there who are looking for something light but effective. With that being said, everyone’s curl patterns are different and some people’s hair may not take these products in the same way my hair did. So if you are curious to try without dedicating yourself to a full-size bottle, the Pattern Beauty website sells minis of all of their products.
