Twitter Launches #HereWeAre Campaign During Oscars

In a year filled with #MeToo and #TimesUp, women’s activism is at the forefront of the media. Women around the world are embracing femininity and finding strength within their struggles to stand up for their rights. And Twitter is here for it.

During the 90th Annual Academy Awards,Twitter unveiled its #HereWeAre campaign. Narrated by poet Denice Froham, the commercial features a diverse group of women including big names like Ava DuVernay, Issa Rae and Julie Dash. #HereWeAre encourages women to continue to use their voices to effect change.

Immediately after being aired, #HereWeAre went viral. The official Twitter account tweeted the video along with the statement, “We stand with women around the world to make their voices heard and their presence known. To bring them front and center, today and every day. Join us as we say #HereWeAre.”

The #HereWeAre campaign seeks to add meaningful dialogue and amplify the topic even further, giving women a platform to feel confident and powerful enough to speak up. Watch the commercial below:
