Top 5 Action Netflix Original Movies To Cure Quarantine Boredom

Fortunately, social distancing is saving a lot of lives. Unfortunately, social distancing is making a lot of people bored. That’s why I’d like to present to you the top 5 action Netflix Original movies to watch.

These movies have three things in common: entertainment, violence, and low rotten tomato scores.

Action movies are the best movies to put on when you are bored and seeking a little adventure. If it’s “bad,” that’s good—then you don’t really have to pay attention. As long as the fight and chase scenes make you hold your breath, the movie is doing its job. If it’s good, then you can pay attention and learn some kickass fighting skills… maybe.

5. game over, man!

Tomatometer: 20%

Audience Score: 46%

Drugs, penis jokes, and easily avoidable situations.

The ratings might not be far off from reality, because Game Over, Man! comes in at number five. Even though it is packed with fighting and killing scenes, its main genre is comedy. It’s extremely NSFW and graphic while also being stupidly entertaining, but mainly if you are already a fan of the show Workaholics. The same three actors find themselves locked inside the hotel they work at, and they are the only people who can save the hostages.

4. polar

Tomatometer: 19%

Audience Score: 63%

Soon-to-be retired assassin, a horrible boss, and a well-deserved pension.

With the lowest Rotten Tomato score, Polar comes in at number 4. Based on a comic book, this movie sticks to its roots and has really amazing fight scenes, but is also incredibly graphic and dramatic. The boss is a stereotypical weasel who just wants to stay rich, and Duncan just wants a normal retirement. Neither of them gets their way, but it’s quite impressive to watch the lengths they’ll go to.

3. Close

Tomatometer: 37%

Audience Score: 35%

Elusive female bodyguard, bratty teenager, and a billion-dollar deal

Written and directed by a woman with lead roles portrayed by women, Close comes in at number 3. The movie is pretty predictable, like most on this list, but no less thrilling. Recent orphan Zoe, safe for her stepmother, almost gets kidnapped—but her incredibly intelligent CPO gets to her in time. Deception ensues and people are killed. So, never underestimate a woman.

2. Triple Frontier

Tomatometer: 72%

Audience Score: 55%

Drug lords, war veterans, and a ton of money.

Critics seemed to like this movie, but the general audience thought otherwise. I personally thought it was very thrilling and was constantly on edge. Five war veterans find the opportunity to steal millions of dollars from a drug lord who is terrorizing the country of Brazil. They succeed with their mission, but a lot of unplanned events happen after that will make you extremely tense—but, in a good way. It’s kind of like watching someone play Call Of Duty, but there are no do-overs.

1. 6 underground

Tomatometer: 36%

Audience Score: 61%

Fake deaths, vigilantes, and unnecessary property damage.

6 Underground, directed by Transformers director Michael Bay, is number one because it is filled with non-stop action scenes that are incredibly over the top and intense, which is key. Ryan Reynolds being in it also doesn’t hurt. Reynolds plays a billionaire tech genius who creates an anonymous vigilante team in order to take down criminals the government will not pursue. Everyone on the team has some sort of background in violence: a hitman, trained sniper, spy, parkour-skilled thief, doctor. Their poorly choreographed yet successful operations will keep you entertained. It’s exciting, funny, and badass.

There are plenty of other, maybe (probably) better, action movies on Netflix, but this is a great time to get out of your comfort zone and watch something kind of bad, but entertaining! I mean, what else is there to do?
