Best Shows and Movies for Spooky Season
The best season is here, and what better way to celebrate the Spooky Season with watching your favorite shows and movies filled with witches, horror, or jump scares. Here’s a roundup of some of the best ones to watch this year.
1. Halloweentown
I don’t know one person who doesn’t love “Halloweentown.” Plus, you can have a marathon with the four movies! Personally, my favorite is either the first or the third one. If you haven’t seen it, get ready to dive into a town where supernatural beings are considered normal. This movie’s perfect if you love the supernatural world, but don’t like anything too scary.
2. Hocus Pocus
Another great movie filled with witches. I actually watched this for the first time this year, and I have to say, it lived up to the hype. I’m not sure how I hadn’t seen it before!
3. The Purge
I’m a huge fan of all “The Purge” movies. Enter a world where one night a year, all crime, including murder, is legal. This one’s definitely better for those who like suspense. If you become a big fan, maybe you can even get a Purge mask as a costume!
4. American Horror Story
I had to include this one since it’s perfect if you’re looking for something to binge-watch. There’s nine seasons now, but each season features a different storyline. If you’re not interested in the first season’s plot, there’s no reason why you can’t skip to a different season. I personally love the first and third seasons the best, but I’ve only watched the first four seasons so far.
5. Goosebumps
Another series I had to include. This one could definitely be considered spooky, but it’s not too scary at all. Another great show you could binge-watch, and each episode features a different plot. Just the other day, my brothers and I watched the episode “Say Cheese and Die”; it's one of our favorites. If you’ve never seen it, I definitely recommend watching at least one episode.
6. The Nightmare Before Christmas
If you’re looking for something not scary, but also a musical, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is your best bet. I find it hilarious that a musical makes the list, but this is one movie you can’t pass up.
7. The Grudge
If you’re not into horror movies, you might want to pass this one. I saw “The Grudge” when it was in theatres back in January, and it definitely kept me on my toes throughout the film.
8. Annabelle & Chucky Movies
If you’re looking to binge watch a series of movies with the main character as a creepy doll, here’s your best bet. I believe there’s at least six Chucky movies out there, and each one is sure to keep you anxiously awaiting the next jumpscare.
