A Thrift Haul: Must-Have Pieces for This Autumn & Winter
I am no stranger when it comes to shopping secondhand, and this past weekend, I had a couple of things on my “Thriftlist” for this fall and winter. I walked into my local Savers with my list in hand and remembered to also keep an open mind. I knew I had to budget myself, so I sifted through my closet and let go of some things before I could go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. I also had 30% off coupon which definitely helped. On this thrift trip, I was undeniably successful.
Here is the full haul and how much I spent on my new must-have pieces for this season!
Green RXB Sweater - $3.99
This green RXB sweater was an instant yes for me. It gave me Grinch-vibes, in the best way possible. I loved the fact that the sweater is not just one shade of green, it has an ombre green palette! I do not have much green in my wardrobe, and I felt like this cardigan would be the perfect way to add a little more color to my closet. I knew this sweater would be a great addition to my wardrobe and a piece I would have for years to come.
Black Velvet Fashion Bug Duster - $3.99
I was absolutely stunned when I found this black duster. I was contemplating purchasing a similar Betsey Johnson one I saw on eBay for around $70 on this same day! Unfortunately, I did not notice that it was missing the fur around the top, but I don’t mind. I plan on adding my own faux fur to the collar! This cardigan is a fall staple for me because it’s black and super long, which is totally my style.
RED LEATHER JACKET - $39.99
This gem was the first thing I picked up! I ran straight to the coats and jackets section in hopes of finding an afghan coat, but instead found this red leather jacket that I also had on my “Thriftlist.” I was a little hesitant when I noticed the price was $39.99, which is a little bit steeper than what I am used to paying at my local thrift stores. I gave in about five seconds into my decision because it was genuine leather and absolutely necessary for my fall/winter wardrobe!
POlka Dot Button UP - $6.49
If you have read my article on why button-ups are essential to have in your closet, then you can understand why I had to pick this piece up. It was giving off a Jean Paul Gaultier & Jaded London vibe that I simply could not pass up! I had it in my cart and a lady actually tried to buy it from me before I even left the store. I guess we have the same taste in button-ups.
Metallic Button-up - $7.79
Now I may be the only one who is still into the shoulder pad look, but I simply do not care. This metallic button-up felt straight out of the 80s’ so of course, it was an absolute necessity. It is bold and bound to make an impression at any holiday party. I cannot wait to experiment with layering with this piece!
Beige Gucci Bag - $12.99
So I found a Gucci bag, and I am 97% sure that it is not authentic, but I still think it was such a great find. The bag caught my eye because of the beige color and silver buckle hardware. I was in the market for another tote-style bag and when I saw this one, I put it right in my cart. Upon further inspection, I realized “OMG, it’s Gucci.” This will be the perfect bag to take to work and throw my laptop in!
Black & White Fluffy Scarves - $1.99 EAch
I was on the lookout for these exact scarves. When I found one of them, I spotted the other one in seconds. No, these are not thick scarves, but I think they are still going to be useful during those colder days. I can definitely still use these in the Spring and the Summer as well, which is something I always keep in mind while shopping.
Leather Fur-Trimmed Coat - $25
I actually got this coat on Depop, so it was not part of the Savers trip, but I received it on the same day. I was so shocked when I saw that the price was only $25, so I had no choice but to snag this baby. It is leather and has the cutest beige fur accents that drew me in even further!
Black Nine West Pointed-Toe Boots - $21.99
Can you say iconic? A black pointed-toe knee-high boot is a key item to have in your closet, especially for the fall season. You can pair them with anything and the end result will always be amazing. These were purchased on a separate thrift trip a couple of days before my Savers trip. The boots were also a bit steep in price but well worth it since I will cherish them until it’s time for me to move on to the next pair!
PAISLEY PRINTED KNEE HIGH BOOTS - $50
I wanted to include these in the haul because I bought them just for this season. I bought these off of Depop back in June. The deal was too good to pass up! The seller had them listed at $100 but I was able to get them at only $50! I haven’t styled them yet, but I definitely have some ideas.
Excluding the three items that I did not get on this trip, the total at Savers was $58.20. I try to thrift at least once a month, especially when I am in the market for some new pieces. I hope this fall/winter thrift haul inspires you to get some new items for yourself. Go out and shop until you drop! Which was your favorite piece? Leave a comment below.
