Christmas Tree Themes You Must Try

It’s that very merry time of year again and many of you have probably started putting up your Christmas trees. But if you’re anything like me, your tree isn’t up just yet. Aren’t you bored of the same old Christmas tree theme? If so, this guide to cultivating the perfect Christmas tree theme will be your best friend this holiday season.

Based off A Christmas Movie

The Grinch (2018) and The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) are just two of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time, so it would only be right to dedicate your tree to one of these classics. On the left is an example of a Grinch-inspired tree that is absolutely gorgeous. It is small, yet still so festive. The Nightmare Before Christmas tree on the left is stunning. I think this theme would be perfect for those who like to keep their trees up until New Year’s since there are black, white, and silver ornaments.

Ralph Lauren/ Plaid Themed

This theme is perfect for the holidays and those who love all things Ralph Lauren. My family did this theme last year and it has been one of my favorites yet. Teddy bears, plaid everything, and a green and red color palette are all you need to achieve this theme for your Christmas tree. You can also get matching decor for the rest of your house, such as plaid pillow covers and Ralph Lauren books that match your coffee tables.

WINTER WOODLAND

If you are an outdoorsy type of person, this theme is absolutely perfect for your Christmas tree. My family has done this theme about three times and we are obsessed. Neutral toned ornaments, burlap ribbon, acorns, wood-like picks, and snowy little woodland creatures are the main ingredients for this tree theme. I would also suggest matching your wrapping paper like in the picture to the right. I feel it gives a much more cohesive look to any Christmas tree.

PINK WONDERLAND/ Nutcracker Suite

Now this one is for all my girly girls who love pink just as much as they love Christmas! This has been the theme of my bedroom Christmas tree for about four years. You can definitely say I am an expert on what you need for a pink wonderland/nutcracker-inspired tree. Flocked trees are absolutely essential because it gives the effect of a real snow-covered tree. Baby pink’s, golds, silvers, and anything snow-like are the main ornaments will you need. You’ll also need to throw in some cute little nutcrackers and ballet shoes here and there.

Nativity Themed

The nativity theme is so fitting for the Christmas season, and even if you are not super religious, it would be the perfect theme to appreciate what the holiday truly represents. Spoiler alert, this is actually the theme of my Christmas tree this year. We focused on a silver, gold, and white color scheme with ornaments that speak to the nativity theme. We also added personal touches such as photos of ourselves and late family members to give the tree something extra special.

north pole/ peppermint themed

I saved this theme for last because it is one of my all-time favorites. My mother has OCD- obsessive Christmas disorder, so she usually does one or two trees each year. The picture to the right is our tree in the kitchen, which is a north pole, peppermint, and gingerbread-inspired tree. This theme is super vibrant and youthful, especially if you love the classic red and green color palette but you do not want to do anything too specific like The Grinch or the Ralph Lauren theme!

Christmas is the greatest time of year for many reasons, one of them being decorating to your heart’s content. Whichever theme you choose for your tree this year, remember, decorate it with love. If you are not into decorating or do not really know how to, as long as you have the spirit and willingness to put up your tree and admire it with your loved ones, you will have a truly great Christmas!
