What Would Harry Do?: Makeup Looks for a Harry Styles Concert
Videos and pictures from Harry Styles’ “Love on Tour” tour have been circulating all over Instagram and TikTok since his tour began, showcasing the many outfits that his fans have been wearing to the show. Some of these fabulous trends being worn at the concert are feather boas, funky patterned pants, and gorgeous, monochromatic pantsuits.
However, no outfit is complete without fabulous makeup to match. I was able to interview some of Styles' fans at the concert to see where they pulled inspiration from for the looks they created and everyone had something different in mind—the creativity was unmatched!
Some trends I noticed while attending the concert at Mohegan Sun was glitter, and I’m not talking just some sparkles on the eyes, I’m talking about glitter all over the face and body. Dramatic lashes and pink shadows made a strong appearance in many people’s looks as well.
Glitter and Glam
For my look, I wanted to do something different than a bright-colored cut crease, which for years has been my go-to look for events. Pulling inspiration from TikTok as well as Pinterest, I put together a different look that stayed true to the Harry Styles aesthetic. I created a double liner using the Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid liner for my wing and the Urban Decay Heavy Metal glitter liner on top. Using Juvias Place eyeshadow palette in The Sweet Pinks, I added a pop of pink in my inner corner to tie in my look with my outfit.
For about 10 years I’ve used MAC Fix+ setting spray, a tried and true product to set my looks and have them stay on all night.
Pretty in Pink
Nineteen-year-old Sabrina from Connecticut went all out with pink. She created a smoked-out hot pink eyeshadow look with a contrasting black wing to add some depth. She used the KVD Tattoo Liner to achieve such a sharp, dark wing that would stay on all night.
Sabrina mentioned using the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer for concert looks because “it will save your life.” The rhinestones she added in her inner corner tied the whole look together—all while glistening in the stage lights. The shades of pink really stuck out against her bright blue eyes which made the look even more captivating.
Bold and Luminous
Jules and Fleur both had very different makeup looks that complimented their features well. Jules wanted to be as colorful as her 60s-inspired jumpsuit with bright pops of pink and orange. She wanted to go bold with her look because “Harry is a very colorful person” she said. She created a graphic hot pink eye look and went heavy on the blush creating a very monochromatic look that all tied together beautifully.
She then went on to say she used a lot of NYX products to achieve her look as well as Tatcha skin products to give a dewy glow. Fleur kept her look a bit more subtle and really focused on her skin. She said she used the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist to make her skin look flawless and radiant. Her eye look was beautiful with a smoked out wing and glitter on the lid adding a pop of shine. The glitter she used on her lid was by Stila Cosmetics.
With an influx of concerts happening before the end of 2021, concertgoers have been getting extremely creative with their looks. A lot of the people I spoke with from the concert had mentioned the music artist Pheobe Bridgers inspiring a lot of their creative makeup looks. Fans of Pheobe Bridgers also play up their looks with lots of color and glitter. Many of the Styles fans are also inspired by Olivia Rodrigo’s makeup looks.
After over a year of people not having any occasion to do their makeup due to the COVID-19 pandemic, concert-goers are really starting to take advantage of the opportunity to get creative and go out of their comfort zone through makeup.
