Wear or Tear: Euphoria Edition S2/E1
After two years of waiting, Euphoria season 2 is finally here—obviously, fashionably late. Last season, viewers were able to connect with the characters. Many were and still are inspired by their wardrobes. But, will this new season maintain the audience's outfit expectations?
Let’s find out as we go through outfits from season 2 episode 1, wear or tear edition.
Rue (Zendeya) once said, “Fezco’s grandma was a mother f****** G.”And she was right. Grandma Kitty (Kathrine Narducci), opened season one with an iconic outfit. Kitty wore a custom-made blue power suit by Amber Doyle with the quote ‘God’s word God's will’ embroidered on the back. If you watched the first episode, you might’ve realized Kitty isn’t really a woman of God’s word. Ironic statements and pops of blue made for a powerful look for Euphoria’s gangster-girlboss.
The costume designer for Euphoria Heidi Bivens and her assistant costume designer Angelina Vitto, worked endlessly to make this season an epic comeback in style. They were aware that the audience’s anticipation was at high levels.
In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, Bivens says, “In terms of style, I played it safe the first season… This season, that went out the window, because I just wanted to have fun.”
Heidi, we all noticed and we are all in love. Especially High Fashion Twitter (HFT). @Bronze_bombshell on Twitter loved the blue of Kitty’s suit. She also emphasized that it is “Beautifulllll.” Other HFT patrons on her post all agreed. Some even mentioned how it is ‘iconic’ and ‘gorgeous’.
What a season opener. This is definitely a…wear!
Okay, we can all agree Kitty’s outfit was amazing. But, let’s not forget how Maddy (Alexa Demie) did not come to play in this first episode. Her outfits always stand out and last season she was deemed a style icon.
She started the season wearing the “Damien Black” dress made by Aiden Euan from his line “Akna.” Paired with Amira Muaddi x AWGE crystal-embellished gladiator thigh-high sandals.
Heidi is definitely having fun styling these outfits. As always Maddy’s outfits will go viral and they will be re-created by fast-fashion companies like Shein. As predicted once again on high fashion Twitter, user @Lavidaprada tweeted, “Can I just call it and say Maddy's look is gonna be recreated by every fast fashion brand in existence in the next week.” However, you can find the original from Akna. The original is always better than the copy—thank us later.
Maddy’s look is always a ten, it’s a…wear from us!

Another style icon in Euphoria, is Kat (Barbie Ferreira). Last season she had a significant style change from pastel cardigans and glasses to red latex and BDSM accessories. This season her style has changed again; out with the red and black and in with the black and green. In the first episode, she wore a custom Fairy Liquid dress by Mimi Wade.
This was an unexpected twist. However, this new look started to show us character development. As much as we are dying to see Kat’s fishnets and chunky boots, we are excited about this new venture she will be taking us on.
Bivens takes an interesting spin on characters for this new season. As Kat found her new persona last season, will she continue to experiment with different aesthetics?
Bivens notes, “I think this season is a lot darker. It delves into these characters’ realities.” Kat won’t let us down and neither did this outfit. It’s yet another wear!
Character development is something we are seeking in this new season. Especially, since we got a sneak peek into the upcoming weeks.
We want to see more of what Sam (creator & director of Euphoria) said we shall receive.
Lexi (Maude Apatow) might have been looking for Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) during the first episode. But, she found Fez (Angus Cloud) instead and was wearing a cute outfit while chatting with him.
Lexi wore a custom square neck top in turmeric paired with pants from Batsheva.
We know this is one of many killer outfits Lexi has to give us this upcoming season and we can’t wait. We will either wear it or tear it, but for this episode, we’ll wear it!
Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) was not missing at all. She also didn’t miss the opportunity to stunt in House of CB Ella Sky Ruched Mesh mini dress. As she stumbled out of the bathtub in her Prada heels from The Real Real, she looked fantastic doing it.
We even got a quick glimpse of Cassie’s underwear from Cosabella. Bevins continues to deliver her small details in each scene. Bivens mentions, “I was very set on the profile for the other characters, but Cassie I couldn’t really nail. I was trying to figure out why, and Sam and I realized that it’s because, from the beginning, she doesn’t really know who she is.”
I know we are all mad at Cassie right now, but we have to wear it not tear it. Although her actions weren’t properly thought out, her outfit sure was.
Throughout the first episode of season 2, the audience was getting impatient. We are all here to see ‘Rules’ get back together and they did! Not only did we see Rue and Jules meet up, but they did it in style.
Yes, their New Year’s Eve kiss was eye-catching. But, Rue was dripped down in vintage Jean Paul Gaultier 1990s Kimono Wrap paired with Roberto Cavalli pinstripe flared leg trousers, that we couldn’t take our eyes off.
Alongside, Rue, Jules (Hunter Schafer) wore a NIHL sheer beaded halter over a Maroske Peech leotard and the iconic Gamine skirt from Orseund Iris to tie the look together. This fit outfit left us speechless.
We know they love each other, but we also love these outfits. It’s a wear from us!
Euphoria continues to play a role in our fashion trends and we love to see it. Take a journey with us as we unpack outfits from season two, each week. Hopefully not tearing any apart, just wearing them! See you next week.
