If You Liked Squid Game, Try Watching These K-Dramas

We’ve all heard of the Emmy award-winning K-drama called Squid Game. After making its debut on Netflix in 2021, it became a buzzing success all over the world. The show isn’t the best of its genre though. If you haven’t had a chance to discover more of the K-drama realm and need a new show to watch, you’ve come to the right place.

Here are 5 K-dramas I think you should watch.

Business Proposal (2022)

If you want something lighter and need a good laugh, this is the drama for you. Business Proposal is a 12 episode romantic comedy that has all the cheesy dating tropes that you read about in romance books and so much more. The two leads are hilarious and there is never a dull moment when watching this show. We recommend this series if you just want to dip your toes into watching K-dramas because it’s quick and fun.

Mine (2021)

Murder mystery, family drama, and romance. Oh my! If you like your shows more intense with a plot twist, I would suggest Mine. I started this show on a flight to Paris and was immediately hooked (which is saying a lot because it’s not the typical genre I go for). This show has everything and more, including a little girl power at the end. Get ready for a bunch of twists and turns because when watching this there’s absolutely no way to predict what happens next.

Twenty-Five Twenty-One (2022)

If I had to pick a favorite on this list, it would be this one. Twenty- Five Twenty-One is a romantic timepiece set in the 90s that follows a story of a girl as she reads her mother's journal. It’s something very new and fresh that I haven’t seen before, and very easy to get attached to I might add. I will warn you before watching, it doesn’t have your typical ending as you would hope, as it tries to go the more “realistic” route.

Penthouse (2020-Present)

If you like watching what everyone else is watching, this is the show for you. Penthouse is one of the most popular K-dramas right now in South Korea. It’s so good that it has up to 3 seasons currently, which you will learn is not typical for the majority of K-dramas.  This show is based around money, rich families and all the drama that surrounds them. Perfect for if you love binging a series.

It’s Okay Not To Be Okay (2020)

Personally, this is another K-drama that I seriously think should’ve won an Emmy. Seriously, it’s that good. This show is a rollercoaster of emotions. It goes from being very comedic to being almost a thriller. The underlying message of the show is something that I don’t feel you can get anywhere else. It has moved me to this day and I never wanna stop talking about it.

I hope this round-up of K-dramas inspires you to do some binging! Grab a bowl of popcorn, a drink, and tune into one of these incredible shows.
