SOUR Film: Olivia Rodrigo Announces New Movie With Disney Plus

It’s been brutal out here without any new music from our favorite pop star. But, today Olivia Rodrigo fans got something even better. This morning Olivia announced that she will be releasing a film with Disney Plus about her debut album, SOUR.

Rodrigo teased that something big was coming in an Instagram post on February 16th. The video was of a car radio with her hit song “happier” playing in the back. This led fans to believe that the artist would be releasing a new music video for the song—but instead, it’s a whole movie.

driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) will be released on March 25th, 2022, and can be streamed on Disney Plus. The actress and singer-songwriter is no stranger to Disney. She has starred in several Disney productions including High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Bizaardvark.

One of her most popular tunes “All I Want” was featured in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which was the turning point in her career. Olivia then released the viral song “driver’s license” in January 2021, and just a few months later in May of 2021, she gave us SOUR.

In just one week of the album being released, SOUR had 301 million streams in the United States. Fans have been obsessing over her relatable hits ever since—us included. Olivia also held a virtual “SOUR Prom” which was released on June 29th.
