Givenchy made their punk debut for their AW22 collection this season. They achieved this by paying attention to detail and outfitting concepts. This is seen through heavy tailorings such as utility wear, graphic tees, and ornamental shapes. The inspiration behind this collection was inspired by the devotion to mix haute couture atelier with casual streetwear through archetype clothing and punk formatting to create this reimagined edgy vision.

Burberry recently showcased their latest AW22 collection live from London. Channeling punk fashion while staying true to their luxury British roots, they set the tone for their show in a blacked-out dining hall with accent lights focused on white dining tables and dinnerware that the models use as their runway to show off their edgy new looks. Paying close attention to plaid patterns, sculptural baseball caps, and heavy tailoring while still drawing focus to the brand’s British heritage—but with a punk twist.

Chet Lo is an upcoming Asian-American designer who has designed for many big names such as Dua Lipa, SZA, Willow Smith, and most recently Doja Cat on her Planet Her album art. He channels futuristic punk through his creative lens to portray a fresh take on punk in luxury streetwear. His AW22 showcases tropes of punk through his garments using sultry miniskirts, Alleyne pricked branded tops with safety pins, with shiny Dr. Martens to add to that edge.
When we think of punk, we may have one image or meaning of what that may look like. Punk fashion is the world around us. It has shown its face in the collections of many designers over the years and continues to reimagine itself through the garments of the models on their runways.
