Let Out Your Inner Artist—A List of Classes to Create the Art You've Always Wanted
We can all agree that being in quarantined was anything but fun. Being stuck inside meant that fluffy blankets, candles, and hand-made decor came in handy. Even as Covid-19 infection numbers are slowly going down, who says we have to say goodbye to hobbies acquired during a stay-at-home phase?
Here are a few ways to create some nice and unique pieces by, and for yourself. It is not only a perfect source of relaxation, but it will make you happy just at the thought of creating something that is your own.
Candle making
Who doesn’t love candles, right? They always add a charming and warm atmosphere to any space. Well did you know that you can make them by yourself at home? The candle brand Nudess candles makes the most aesthetic candles, and they can teach you how to do it!
You can sign up for their online candle making course to create trendy bright candles as an addition to your interior. The cost is only $35 and you will forever have access to their master classes.
2. Pottery
Pottery making classes can be a bit pricey, but we managed to find a few different options just for you. If you are in New York City, you can pay $75 per session at Super Mud Pottery. There, you will learn how to throw on the wheel, as well as how to execute different pottery techniques with an instructor’s assistance. They also offer different packages if you’d like to dig deeper into the art-form, such as learning how to glaze your own pieces.
If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, you can always head to your nearest craft store, and pick up air-dry clay. Though it is not entirely the same, this—in combination with some pottery tools—is a great option for getting your hands dirty and creating.
3. Color Me Mine
If you’d rather not get messy with the mud, but would enjoy painting some pottery, this is a place for you! At Color Me Mine, you can choose an already pre-made product, paint it and then their team will glaze and do the rest of the work.
In approximately two weeks, you’ll go back to pick up your masterpiece. There is a $12 studio fee, which includes glazing and firing, plus an additional fee that depends on which piece you chose to paint. On average, the overall price is around $25-$35 but is well worth it for the end result.
4. Canvas Painting
Painting is proven to be a good way of getting rid of anxiety and stress. Sipping on some wine at the same time is twice as pleasant.
We suggest you check out Paint and Sip Studio. They have both online and in–person classes where you will paint for two hours while getting a little tipsy and enjoying a complimentary glass of wine. You can experience this unique, yet fun class all for $50, and get to frame your creation and put it on your wall afterwards!
5. Online learning
If you are that kind of person who is interested in learning a little bit of everything, then SkillShare is a go-to source for you! It is an online platform with nearly 30,000 online classes that cover all kinds of art forms.
The soap making courses, for instance, are very popular on the platform. What can be better than taking care of your body with hand-made natural soap? Sign up for their online masterclass and you can have the first month free to try it out, after that it is $13 a month or $157 yearly.
