Glitz, Glamour, Gloss and the Gilded Age: Our Favorite Makeup Looks from the Met Gala
The 2022 Met Gala had some pretty interesting outfits—to say the very least. However, let’s not forget that hair and makeup are just as important when it comes to Met Gala looks and other large-scale events that include A-list celebrities—and a red carpet. This year's theme was “Gilded Glamour” and the celebrities definitely brought it with their hair and makeup. Here are five of our favorite glams from the night as well as the artist behind them.
Emma Chamberlain:
Emma Chamberlain, everyone’s favorite YouTube sensation turned fashion icon. After being endorsed by Louis Vuitton in 2019 where she was invited by them to Paris Fashion Week, she has since become the face of the brand. For the 2022 Met Gala, Emma was rocking a warm-toned smokey eye with a stunning gold foil shadow on the lid. Her skin was radiant sunkissed with a bold coral blush and a soft nude lip. The look was created by makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher using BareMinerals products.
Kiki Lane:
Kiki Lane’s look stole the show at The Met Gala. For her hair, she went with a 1970’s style afro created by Tish Celestine. Her makeup matched her dress perfectly. Lane’s eyelids were adorned with pink flower petals that complimented those on her gown and her blush was a bright pink that pairs so beautifully with her complexion. This stunning look was created by makeup artist Billie Gene.
Lizzo:
Lizzo never lets us down and is always slaying. Her vampy makeup look really tied the look together as she strutted the red carpet in a stunning black coat with gold embroidery designed by Thom Browne. The gothic twist makeup look was created by artist Alexx Mayo. The deep lip paired nicely with her overall look; Mayo reveals that he used the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in the shade “Bad Romance” followed by the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in the shade “Festival Magic.” Her lashes were by Velour Lashes in the style “Poker Face” for some added drama to this sexy and sultry look.
Kris Jenner:
Although Hollywood’s most iconic mother wasn’t quite on theme for this year’s Met Gala, Kris Jenner’s look was still absolutely breathtaking and deserves recognition. Her look was Jackie-O inspired with her flipped hairstyle and gorgeous yellow dress by Oscar de la Renta. Kris Jenner had the best of the best for her glam squad bringing in makeup artist Etienne Ortega and hairstylist Léa Journo. She wanted a fun, playful look that was also glamorous for The Met Gala. Her eye look was a goldish yellow cut crease and a sharp wing to add some contrast. On her lower lash line was a pop of smokey hunter green shadow that really tied the whole look together. Finally, the look was topped off by her glossy nude lip, which was very soft and feminine. Danessa Myricks Beauty products were used to create her look for the night.
Megan Thee Stallion:
It goes without saying that Miss Megan absolutely bodied the Met Gala this year—but did we really expect anything less? Megan Thee Stallion was giving gilded glamour from head to toe with her high slit skirt and metallic shawl designed by Moschino. Her makeup was sharp and bold which paired beautifully with her outfit. She had a metallic gold cut crease with bold lashes and a gorgeous ombre nude lip. Her skin was flawless and contoured to perfection. Megan’s iconic look was created by makeup artist Lauren Elise Child using Revlon Cosmetics.
Every year the makeup looks at The Met Gala never cease to amaze us. The talent among the artists is truly breathtaking and should be recognized, just like the designers who bring these looks to life. What were some of your favorite makeup looks from the 2022 Met Gala? Leave a comment below.
