Anime Inspired Fashion by Loewe
Are you a lover of both anime and fashion? If so, keep on reading. With the success of previous collaborations like My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, coveted designer Loewe has teamed up with Howl’s Moving Castle for another iconic collection.
The collaboration with Loewe and the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli had fans eager and awake at 7 AM to get their hands on the collection, reports British Vogue. The collection was designed to bring the film to life. This collaboration was created with original Loewe leather accessories, says British Vogue. For example, the Puzzle and Amazona bag with imprinted Studio Ghibli sketches.
One of the main statement pieces is a vivid red Amazona, including the Witch of the Waste. Many more characters from the film are included on pieces like the Puzzle, Flamenco, and Hammock bags, bracelet pouches, small items, sweaters, jackets, and shirts, says Metal Magazine. Scenes from the film are embodied in clothing and accessories, such as a jacket specifically designed for Howl’s feathers and their house.
Loewe held several pop-ups for collaboration in London, Tokyo, etc. Unfortunately, this will be the last collaboration between Loewe and Studio Ghibli, according to Dazed, but that is what makes these pop-up shops even more memorable. Selfridges Store on Oxford Street displays a multi-dimensional pop-up to promote the collection.
The pop-up showcases the Studio Ghibli exhibition in Selfridges' Cloud Room, where guests can get an intimate look at Ghibli sketches, see what it was like behind the scenes during the advertising campaign, and enter an immersive installation made entirely of clouds.
A number of famous Ghibli films are also on display at the pop-up, reports Dazed. Dolly's Café was turned into Calcifer's kitchen, the resident fire demon of Howl, for the purpose of the genuine performance, which took place there. Tea and food inspired by the movie were available at the café.
V Magazine feels that there's more meaning behind the collection than people know. The film, Howl’s Moving Castle, is about a war happening against technology and the effects of war, says V Magazine. Which, in terms of people's homes and gratitude, is comparable to modern civilization.
With that said, the clothing and the movie teach consumers that life is short and that the world is always changing. Even if it is a fantasy that we long for, life is somewhat like it.
