How to Recreate Barbie’s Iconic Makeup Looks for Halloween
Barbie has been a household name for decades—not only because of the dolls themselves, but because of the plethora of products associated with the Barbie name. Every year we see people dressing as Barbie for Halloween. But this year, for obvious reasons, we are likely to see many more dressed up dolls on October 31.
Here are a few makeup looks to take your Barbie costume to the next level this Halloween!
1. Disco Barbie
Disco Barbie is all about fun, bold, and sparkly looks—anything that will pop under the lights on the dance floor. For this look, you want the main focus to be on the eyes—think pink graphic liner!
Start by priming your eyes so your makeup will stay in place all night long. Then, take a light pink shade and blend that out over the lid without going past your crease. Next, take a pinkish brown and start outlining your crease. Make this heavy and dramatic, as you want to see the definition.
From here, you want to wing out the crease to give the illusion of pulling the eyes up. To make the look cohesive, take a hot pink shade and smoke it out on the bottom lash line.
To finish off the eye look, pop on a pair of dramatic lashes. For this look, we recommend the BBL Doll Look Lashes by Ardell in the style “Brat.” For the lips, use a classic Barbie pink that is monochromatic to the colors on the eyes or a classic nude that suits your skin tone.
2. malibu Barbie
This look is the epitome of Malibu Barbie. Beachy hues and glowy skin pair great with beach wave hair.
For this look, you want to prime your eyes so the colors really pop. To start, take a bright orange and blend it in your crease so it is nice and diffused. Take a teal shade and blend that onto the lid and into the orange shade.
Try not to blend too much as you still want the definition that separates the two colors. Finally, take any black waterproof liner and create a small cat eye wing to define the eyes.
For the skin, go in with a glowy base. We recommend the Elf Cosmetics Halo Glow which will give you light coverage with the sunkissed glow that you’re looking for.
Next, use a warm-toned bronzer to bring definition and warmth to the face. Follow that with a coral blush in the same hue as the orange used on the eyes. Finish the look off with a glossy lip!
3. Holiday Barbie
This Barbie is all about the glam. Every year, Mattel comes out with a new Barbie for the holiday season.
Holiday Barbie is in full glam makeup and draped in a beautiful gown. For this look, you want to stick with deeper tones.
Like always, prep your eyes so the makeup lasts. Take a burgundy shade and smoke it out in the outer corner of your eye and halfway into the crease. Once that is all blended, take a deep brown, focus it on just the outer corner and smoke it into the lash line.
For the lid, take a gold glitter and focus it on the center of your lid so your eyes pop. Next, take that same burgundy shade that you started with and smoke that out on your lower lash line to connect the look. Then, take a dark black liquid liner and extend it to a sharp wing. Of course, finish off with some lashes and a shade of red that compliments your skin.
