'Wicked' Good Looks: The Best Looks From NYC's 'Wicked' Premiere
The premiere of Wicked, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, graced the halls of New York City’s Museum of Modern Art on November 14th. Cast members, influencers, and celebrities attended the event for the most popular (no pun intended) movie musical adaptation of 2024.
Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, hosted the premiere. To no surprise, the theme of the premiere was the movie’s OzDust Ball where the characters sport whimsical gowns and suits. Most of the attendees understood the theme and dressed accordingly.
Below are a few of our favorite looks and most importantly, where they came from.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo channeled her character in a black ensemble with a sheer, long-sleeve top, a deep sweetheart neckline, and a dramatic ballgown skirt from Dior. She paired this look with long embellished black-and-white nails and Elphaba’s signature black jewelry
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande’s color of the moment is pink, reminiscent of Glinda’s style throughout the musical and film. She wore a fuschia corset gown with a peplum waist from Louis Vuitton and donned her neck with a crystal choker to add a modern flair.
Ethan Slater
Ethan Slater, who plays Boq in the film and also is in a relationship with Ariana Grande, wore a simple navy and black suit. He posed on the red carpet cheerfully with his cast members in styling by Jason Rembert.
Jonathan Bailey
Johnathan Bailey stars as Fiyero in Wicked, and stunned in a black and white textured suit from Loewe with a gold brooch. It was perfect men’s attire for the OzDust Ball!
Lea Michele
Lea Michele, famous actress and star of Glee, nodded to Glinda in a pastel pink Max Mara gown, featuring a boat neck, no sleeves, and back draping. She paired this with Mary Janes and a bag from designer Roger Vivier.
Idina Menzel
Idina Menzel, known for originating the role of Elphaba in Wicked the Musical, wore the Thalia Gown by Rhea Costa. The one-shoulder mermaid-style black gown and black clutch with a green stone were reminiscent of her past role.
Kristin Chenoweth
Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda alongside Menzel in the Broadway musical, sported a custom Pamella Roland white and silver blazer dress. She accessorized with jewels from Eva Fehren and shoes from AQUAZZURA.
