The Chunkier the Ring the Better
Chunky rings originally were discovered in the early 2000s during the plastic ring trend which consisted of playful, fun colors and shapes that created child-like whimsy. A brand that popularized the popular chunky accessory better known as the “bulky” or “oversized” look was La Manso.
The theme is bold, eye-catching, punk/rockstar, and 90s!
Between the late 90s and early 2000s, the punk rock look became a popular trend. Think oversized silhouettes, Doc Martin boots, baggy jeans, studded belts, graphic shirts, and other similar styles. What defined these styles were the accessories including bulky rings worn on each of the fingers to emphasize the edgy, rock star aesthetic.
The trend of wearing bulky and oversized rings didn't last very long, and it began to lose popularity in the late 2000s. This was due to the new and upcoming accessories that became more popular, such as butterfly earrings and rings, smiley faces, colorful beads, and more.
In 2021, bulky rings became a trend once again, with celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Ariana Grande, and A$AP Rocky wearing these accessories to adorn their style. The rings became more creative and imaginative with their colorful wave, shapes, and lettering moving away from the black and silver look.
In a new era, accessories have played a big part in putting an outfit together. Chunky rings have been a trend that everyone has loved, especially rings that are not just plain basic styles but colorful, creative, and fun to incorporate with your outfits.
