Men's College Basketball Final Four Results
This year, March Madness has shown the growing success of college basketball teams around the country. Zach Edey of Purdue started with more than 50 points, 35 rebounds, and a field goal percentage in the first game, setting a record. Donovan Clingan of UConn scored 19 points in 20 minutes, as well as 14 rebounds and eight blocks in 27 minutes.
These athletes are showing grit and breaking records that haven’t been broken in years. This may be a year for the books.
NC STATE VS. PURDUE
Before the game, Purdue was picked to win 89.6% to 10.4% with a record of 33-4. NC State had a record of 26-14. Including this year, Purdue has been to the Final 4 three times and NC State has been to the Final 4 four times. Of the two teams, NC State is the only one that has won March Madness; once in 1974 and another in 1983.
Purdue finished the first half up 35–29. The Boilermakers controlled the pace early, but NC State made it a game coming back from a 12-point deficit. Zach Edey scored 14 points with 8 rebounds in the first half. Throughout the second half, both teams showed impressive plays, but in the end, Purdue won 63-50. Edey ended up scoring a total of 20 points and led the team to a victory. This will be the first time Purdue plays in the championship.
ALABAMA VS. UCONN
Before the game, UConn was picked to win 72% to 28% with a record of 35-3. Alabama had a record of 25-11. UConn has been to the final 4 a total of seven times and this will be Alabama’s first. Of the two teams, UConn has won March Madness five times; 1999, 2004, 2011, 2014, and 2023.
UConn finished the first half up by 40-44. They were neck and neck for almost the entire half, Alabama shot 72% from the three-point line. This game was a nail-biter until the last second, but UConn persevered and won 86-72. This will be the second year in a row UConn has advanced to the championship. Stephon Castle scored 21 points with 5 rebounds and two assists and Donovan Clingan scored two dunks in the final few minutes of the game.
With Purdue and UConn winning, they will now face each other in the championship game. The game will be played on April 8th at 9:20 pm EST and streamed on ESPN.
