Supreme: Same Name, Same Game, New Owner

Supreme is now owned by VF Corp

Amid this pandemic, Supreme has proven to be a staple in the streetwear and skater community by continuing to collab with top fashion brands. They also stepped into the beauty industry with their Pat McGrath collaboration. Now the company is embarking on a new journey. James Jebbia, Supreme’s founder and ex-CEO, sold the Supreme brand for $2.1 billion to VF Corp—yes, that’s a lot of dough. But it makes perfect sense due to the high volume of product collaborations and buyers willing to pay top dollar for a piece with the red box and white letters.

So, who is VF Corp? You may be familiar with brands like The North Face, Vans, and Timberland. These brands are all owned by VF. The company is known for its apparel and footwear brands that surround outdoor lifestyles and workwear. Since this company owns brands the Supreme community is familiar with, the change in ownership is respected by Jebbia and Supreme’s patrons.

“We are proud to join VF, a world-class company that is home to great brands we’ve worked with for years, including The North Face, Vans, and Timberland. This partnership will maintain our unique culture and independence while allowing us to grow on the same path we’ve been on since 1994,” said Jebbia

Fans aren’t worried that the change of ownership will impact the quality of Supreme. “I don’t think it will change anything; it’s just a new owner,” stated an anonymous fan. “The company should stay the same.”

In honor of Supreme now being a part of the VF family, I have put together a collection of the most notable collaborations Supreme has done over the years with The North Face and Vans.
