The Best Looks From The Vogue Macarena Challenge

The Y2K era is undoubtedly one of the most iconic time periods in fashion. Recently, we have been seeing many brands and designers taking trends and style’s from the early 2000s’ and re-releasing or creating a whole new line inspired by the era. Another aspect of fashion that has been inspired by the Y2K era is the magazine world. Vogue teamed up with Puerto Rican artist and fashion icon Bad Bunny to recreate the “Macarena” in a video with models dressed in stunning Y2K-inspired looks.

Without further ado, let’s take a run through some of the best looks and see how many people have joined the challenge!

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny was dripped in designer to create an iconic Y2K look. He wore a metallic green Bottega Veneta top and pants, a white Calvin Klein tank top, a Mateo necklace, a Marvin Douglas necklace, black Louis Vuitton sunglasses, and white Martine Rose shoes. This look emulated both the 2000s’ era and the bright and bold color palette that Bad Bunny is known for!

IMaan Hammam

Model Imaan Hammam was a vision in Versace for this challenge, wearing a Versace top, skirt, earrings, and shoes. The model was sporting a similar shade of green as Bad Bunny, along with a cute metallic purple skirt, and some Y2K-esque rhinestoned heels.

Paloma Elsesser

Paloma Elsesser was giving all the Y2K vibes in a cute green Coperni top, a printed blue and green Collina Strada mini skirt, silver Swarovski earrings, and a bold pair of GCDS platforms. I love how true to the era her look was. I feel as though the skirt is giving off a green Versace dress vibe, which I can truly never get enough of!

Jazzelle Zanaughtti

I think this is my favorite look from the challenge, just because of all the denim, which was a major part of the early 2000s, as displayed by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake at the 2001 AMA’s. Jazelle wore a denim Loewe dress, a Tiffany & Co necklace, and bracelet, a pair of Fendi sunglasses, and iconic denim Dolce & Gabbana boots.

MARIA ISABEL

Another true to the 2000s’ look, Maria Isabel rocked a pair of low-rise Masha Popova pants and top, a Van Cleef & Arpels earrings, necklace, and ring, and a rimless pair of Blumarine sunglasses. The model also rocked a sleek braided hairstyle, which is of course reminiscent of the Y2K culture.

It is clear that the iconic fashion and culture from the Y2K era are not going anywhere anytime soon, and Vogue’s “macarena” challenge proved just that. So, which was your favorite look? Will you be recreating the challenge with a few Y2K looks of your own? Leave a comment below.
