Boots With the Fur: The Shoes of the Season
Keeping warm in the middle of winter isn’t a problem thanks to the newest trend—monstrous yeti-like boots. They first appeared in Miu Miu’s Aprés-Ski A/W 2021 collection in oversized silhouettes. This season we are seeing many designers being inspired by Miu Miu’s fur-tastic footwear. First, in Stockholm, Stand’s A/W 2022 collection featured furry boots in an array of bright colors such as neon green, cobalt, millennial pink, and lavender. Then, at Simon Miller’s A/W 2022 show, sherpa clog-like platforms, and shag fur boots were center stage. At Area’s S/S’22 collection we saw over-the-knee ostrich feathered boots. “It’s giving the bird,” screamed Piotr Panszczyk, Creative Director of Area, when referring to them.
It’s no surprise that these yeti-like boots are appearing in collections. This elevated footwear look is not only practical, as it shields you from the harsh winter air, but also an effortless way to make any outfit look far more interesting.

On a similar vibe, we have Uggs and the notorious Moon Boot, which are currently having a resurgence as well. Uggs have been releasing more colors in their classic silhouette and creating new designs, which are being worn by models Gigi Hadid, Emma Ratakowski, and Irina Shayk. Moon Boot’s popularity has skyrocketed because just like the yeti boot, they keep you warm and are more alluring than a pair of any ol’ winter boots. Both Dua Lipa and Kendall Jenner have been seen sporting the Moon Boot.
The nostalgia of the early 2000s in current fashion is undeniable and furry boots were an essential part of that moment. Reality TV star Snooki was often seen wearing a short furry boot paired with denim cutoffs and off-the-shoulder tees or a tight cleavage-baring top. Her look was trashy-chic and no doubt recreated by Jersey Shore fans.
Victoria Beckham wore white platform furry boots with low-waisted snow pants tucked in and a tight grey hoodie. From looking at Beckham’s outfit you’d think she was on her way to a ski resort, but that wasn’t the case for this paparazzi photo. Sometimes dressing for the wrong occasion can create a far more enticing look. Flo Rida even mentioned “boots with the fur” which were sexily paired with Apple Bottom Jeans in his infamous song featuring T-Pain called “Low.”
Fashion is continuing down a maximalist approach and these yeti boots are your ticket to achieving a captivating winter look that’ll be both over-the-top and practical.
