The spring and summer seasons are coming up quicker than we could have anticipated (and hoped for). Powdered PASTELS

When we think of a signature spring/summer color palette we usually go straight for bright colors and pastels. For this spring and summer, pastels are back in business. From baby pinks to butter yellow and one of Pantone’s colors of the season “Skylight,” this color palette will be your best friend for the upcoming warmer seasons.

SEQUINS, SPARKLES, AND SHINE OH MY

Anything that sparkles goes for this spring/summer. Whether that be a sequined Fendi Baguette or a cheaper lookalike, any metallic piece from sunglasses to 90s’ style pants. Sequins, sparkles, and shiny fabrics are in style this season. If you want to get a jumpstart on your summer party or clubwear looks, start shopping this trend ahead of schedule.

STAY WARM IN THE HEAT

Ironically, big fluffy coats are in for the spring/summer season. They are not particularly a spring or summer item, but big coats might come in handy if you decide to travel to colder destinations or for those cooler spring nights.

Totally Baggin’

Bags of all shapes and sizes are trending this upcoming season. From tote bags to shoulder bags and satchels; if you do not own any of these styles already, you should add them to your “bag list.” Stick to a spring and summer color palette to fit into this trend perfectly, but do not be afraid to bring back staple fall colors if you are still loving them into spring.

A LOVE FOR FLUFF

All things fluffy were seen on the runway for this spring/summer season. From a Fendi x Marc Jacobs giant fur hat to a stunning feather-hat look from Jacquemus. Furry and fluffy everything is trending and would be the perfect trend to implement into your newly refreshed wardrobe for the upcoming seasons.

Cutthroat cargos

Cargos (aka everyone’s favorite pants) have been all the rage these past couple of seasons. Whether it is because of their handy pockets or their effortless comfort, no one can let go of the cargo obsession. Luxury designers such as Blumarine and Versace shared their love for cargos on the runway with their own version of the pant. I am sure we all have a pair of cargos in our closets already, but if not, it’s never too late to hop on the trend.

see right through me

Sheer fabrics absolutely dominated the spring and summer runways in shows from Maison Margiela to Chet Lo. Sheer was seen in every article of clothing from dresses and tops to jackets and skirts. While this might not be an everyday-wear kind of trend, those confident and experimental fashion people may find this trend already a part of their wardrobe-essentials. If you want to try something new this spring and summer season, sheer is the way to go.

The grass is GREENer on the runway

Another one of Pantone’s colors for the upcoming spring and summer season is “Love Bird,” which is a yellow-green shade, similar to Chartreuse. This shade of green, along with Classic Green and neon hues was spotted across several runway shows including Balenciaga & Gestuz. Greens were everywhere this past fall and winter season, and they’ll be sticking around this upcoming spring/summer season.

GLOVED UP

Yet another trend that’s been around for the past couple of seasons is gloves. This time around, however, gloves are trending in a more amusing way. Botter reimagined H2O in a more fashionable light with plastic water bubble-looking gloves, and Givenchy gave us a super trendy zip-up glove. Statement gloves are one trend that is worth trying out this spring and summer season.

90s’ grunge

90s nostalgia was all over the runway of spring/summer 2023 fashion shows. Almost every brand from Dolce & Gabbana (with looks curated by Kim Kardashian), to Versace, and Coach had touches of 90s nostalgia and grunge. From gaudy silver chain necklaces and corsets to slinky black mesh tops. While transitioning your fall and winter wardrobe into your newly curated spring/summer closet, keep some of those black, grungier pieces around for the warmer weather.

“GROUNDBREAKING” FLORALS

While all of us are more than familiar with the iconic phrase “florals for spring. . . groundbreaking” spoken by the one and only Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, we could not have predicted that they would become popular for this spring and summer season in a different light. Instead of your average floral patterns, 3D floral appliqués are on the hot list for the season. Whether it is on an Acne Studios dress or a cute Loewe choker as seen on Kendall Jenner, this trend is worth putting at the top of your list.

As many times as it has been said, we can’t stress the issue enough- trends are completely optional, and just because they may be what everyone is wearing at the moment does not mean that you should follow them. So, if you see yourself sporting any of these trends for the spring and summer 2023 season then as always, have fun with it!
