Rihanna is Back With a Second Fenty x Puma Collab
Rihanna and Puma announced the return of their iconic collaboration on Wednesday, March 1st via Instagram. Rihanna started her partnership with Puma back in 2014 when she was appointed the brand’s Creative Director, according to Vogue. During her time as Creative Director, she released exclusive sneakers and athleisure wear, ready-to-wear lines, and several successful fashion shows.
The announcement comes as a surprise since the news of her second pregnancy just came out. Many assumed that she would not only continue to take a break from her music, but also from any other ventures.
However, she wanted to make sure we knew that this wasn’t the case. Following her epic Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, the singer is already set to perform her single “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the 2023 Oscars, for which she received an Oscar nomination as well.
Rihanna designed a handful of styles that provided a much more playful take on signature athleisure staples that completely dominated the fashion industry in the 2010s. Some of these silhouettes included chunky-soled sneakers (dubbed as Creepers), brightly-colored bodysuits, oversized graphic hoodies, thigh-high boots, and chunky lace-up sandals. Rihanna was also one of the faces of the collaboration, which can also be said about her Savage x Fenty line.
It is without a doubt that this new collection will be nothing short of iconic- bouncing off the previous collaboration. The collection will most likely be oozing in inclusivity and might even tap into the luxury realm since Rihanna’s Fenty brand with LVMH gave her all the knowledge and experience one might need to recreate such garments.
Rihanna will definitely approach the new Fenty x Puma line with both a fresh set of mommy eyes and a new area of expertise. We would not be surprised if there are pieces that put comfort and flexibility first, similar to maternity style while remaining appropriate for every occasion.
