2024 Presidential Election: Meet the Candidates
With primaries well underway, and just over a year until the 2024 election, there are still seventeen people in the running for President of the United States. Three democrats, thirteen republicans, and one independent race for the position while trying to win over the American public.
Today, we look at four of these Presidential hopefuls. From incumbent President Joe Biden to entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who are these candidates, and what their goal for the American future is.
Joe Biden: Incumbent candidate (Democrat)
Key Policies:
Covid-19: President Biden plans to expand testing for vaccinations and safety research while addressing and supporting communities hit hardest by the virus.
Climate: Through mobilizing government efforts, the Biden Administration plans to “put the United States on a path to achieve net-zero emissions, economy-wide, by no later than 2050.”
Racial Equity: The Biden Administration promises to ensure racial justice across agencies, policies, and programs at the Federal level.
Economy: Through “Bidenomics,” President Biden will provide pandemic relief, strengthen small businesses, and invest in future career paths.
Health Care: Expanding access to affordable healthcare is at the center of Biden’s campaign. He plans to reduce costs and make the system less complex.
Immigration: President Biden believes the country is centered on immigration, and promises to keep families together, ensure a welcoming environment, and secure the status of those who have spent decades in the U.S.
Vivek Ramaswamy (Republican)
Revive American National Identity: Ramaswamy plans to secure the southern border, end affirmative action, “ban addictive social media under age 16 and gender confusion “care” for minors, end unlawful DEI indoctrination, and withhold federal funding for cities that refuse to protect Americans from violent crime.”
Unleash the American Economy: Under this policy, Ramaswamy promises to unshackle nuclear energy, incentivize trade schools, and limit the U.S. Fed’s scope.
Dismantle Managerial Bureaucracy: If elected, Vivek Ramaswamy will “shut down toxic government agencies: Department of Education, FBI, IRS, and more, end civil service protections for bureaucrats, and cut wasteful expenditures.”
End Weaponization of Government and Financial Markets: Ramaswamy plans to “pardon defendants of politicized prosecutions: Trump, Mackey, and peaceful Jan. 6 protesters, publish the Jeffrey Epstein client list, and fight all plans for digital currency.”
Nikki Haley (Republican)
Key Policies:
Creating Jobs: As the Governor of South Carolina, Haley “cut taxes, nixed burdensome government regulations and made small businesses a state priority.” As President of the United States, she plans to do the same.
Standing Up for the Unborn: Haley coins herself as a “champion of life,” outlawing abortion after 20 weeks in South Carolina and signing the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act.
Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration: In 2011, as South Carolina’s governor, Haley “signed one of the toughest immigration laws in the country, giving law enforcement more power to check whether people are illegal immigrants.”
Protecting Elections: Nikki Haley is an advocate for voter ID laws when it comes to elections. She hopes to ensure fewer infractions within the United States election system.
Tim Scott (Republican)
Key Policies:
Defend American Children: Scott plans to “stand with crisis pregnancy centers, save Title IX and women’s sports, make Big Tech do more to keep kids safe online, and defend every parent’s right to know what their child is hearing and reading in school.”
Borden Plan: If elected to the Presidency, Scott will “crush the cartels, secure the border and end illegal immigration, end catch-and-release, and implement zero tolerance for illegal immigrants with criminal records.”
Build. Don’t Borrow: This policy ensures that the future of America is built in America. Scott promises to “lead the charge for a balanced budget amendment, replace automatic raises with merit pay, push money and jobs back into the heartland, and cut taxes for small businesses and educators.”
