Beware the Witches: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Take Over Vanity Fair
Wicked co-stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo recently collaborated with Vanity Fair for a cover shoot. The two stars have been working on the first part of the film since 2021 with director John. M. Chu, and apparently, they have developed a genuine friendship.
Grande and Erivo showcased multiple stunning looks in Vanity Fair. Their appearances perfectly align with their characters, Glinda and Elphaba.
The cover features both actresses standing beside each other. Grande resembles a younger version of Marilyn Monroe with her blonde hair and a white Marc Jacobs dress, while Cynthia adorns a Louis Vuitton outfit.
In one image, Grande is seen in soft shades of pink, blue, and white, reflecting the Glinda theme. She wears a strapless Loewe gown with soft pastels in pink shades, and for her second look, a Giambattista haute couture pink gown. Beside her, Cynthia wears a deep green gown with dramatic ruffles down her back and big puffy shoulders. Both looks portray their characters’ appearances perfectly.
Opinions on their looks were divided—some loved the look, while others were not so impressed. Positive comments included “Oh my…OZ,” “Stunning,” “I love them,” and “Oh served.” Negative comments were predictably trolling, but it’s absolutely worth checking out for yourself, especially if you’re excited about the film.
Wicked is a Broadway show based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. It serves as a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, portraying Elphaba and Glinda as frenemies before Dorothy falls from the sky.
Wicked reinvigorates a classic while exposing the untold stories of Oz, Glinda the Good Witch, and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. The film will be released on November 22, 2024. Grab your popcorn and enjoy!
