Surprising Beauty Tricks You May Not Have Heard Off
If you are a beginner or a pro at makeup, we all have our version of makeup routines. They are tried and trusted and something we all know will have great results. But what if you want to try something new? What if you want to learn a new technique? You can try new techniques using old products that could significantly change your look. Whether it's a genius way to elevate or simplify your makeup, these five hacks may improve your current routine.
PinPoint Concealing
Sometimes, you want to cover up that pesky blemish that refuses to go without covering up your whole face. Or you might be someone who prefers a no-makeup makeup look. Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldrige created the pinpoint concealing technique just for that. Instead of going in with the concealer wand to your face, you would take a tiny brush and some concealer and apply it only where you want coverage. Since the brush is small and dense, it allows for a higher coverage that only targets one spot you wouldn’t get with a big brush or beauty blender. She recently came out with her Pinpoint Concealer Micro Correcting Pencil, a precise, pigmented, and cream gel concealer that is great for micro camouflaging and micro shadow lifting.
Lighter Coverage Base
This next tip is great for someone with a smaller makeup collection who wants to try different options. If you own only full-coverage matte foundations but want to try something lighter and glowy, this hack is what you need. You can use a hydrating toner such as the I’m From Rice Toner, add some to your foundation, and mix it in. The more you add, the thinner and less coverage your foundation will get. A great tip is to try different amounts to see your preferred coverage. Adding the toner will create a glowy base perfect for the summer or a no-makeup makeup look. If you don’t have a toner but do have a glowy or hydrating serum, you can use that instead. The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Dew Drops Serum is an amazing option for that method because of its light, hydration, and glow.
Avoid Patchy Blush
As a huge cream blush fan, this trick is great for everyone, including myself. Blush can look patchy, depending on how you apply it. This simple change in applying your foundation can make the biggest difference. If you are applying your cream blush after your foundation has dried down, it can make your blush patchy. Instead, you can ensure to prep your skin well so it's glowy and not dry or flaky. Then go in with your foundation, and while your foundation is wet, apply your cream blush as you would. Since the foundation is wet, the blush can blend better with your base, and it is more pigmented. This helps you avoid any patches since your base is not dry.
Runny Smudged Mascara
Have you ever come home to see that your mascara is all over your under-eye? Well, this next hack will help you. Mascara can transfer to your under eyes or crease after several hours. To avoid that, before you go in with anything, use some micellar water and a brush to clean your eyelashes lightly. This will make sure that there isn’t any makeup or skincare on your lashes. This usually is what causes that transfer. Then, after you curl your lashes, go in with your setting powder and apply some with a brush to your eyelashes. This helps mattify and ensure you have no oil in your lashes, and it helps the mascara stick better. Apply your mascara as you would, and this tip should help you avoid creases in your mascara by the end of your day.
Smoother Eyebrow Application
This last tip is similar to the previous hack, but it makes the biggest difference. Doing your eyebrows is the least favorite part for many people. It's hard, time-consuming, or just looks bad. Well, one of the reasons could be that your brows are not dry enough. There is a chance your eyebrows have skincare or makeup that doesn’t dry down. So take some mineral water or makeup wipes and clean your brows. After letting it dry, lightly brush your eyebrows with the tiniest amount of setting powder. This will mattify your brows and help the products grip better.
