Little do you know, she is Hollywood’s go-to photographer. Even if you don’t recognize Amber Asaly by name, you will most definitely recognize her colorful, oversaturated, and wide-angled film photographs. Her playful photography techniques have led her to be an internet sensation in the world of pop culture and fashion.
Born and raised in California, she has become both a friend and photographer to many of Hollywood's biggest stars like Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and Sofia Richie. Asaly’s experimentation with colors and angles, while also telling stories through her camera lens, has truly put her at the top of her field. Not only is her Instagram filled with stunning celebrities, but also very impressive fashion editorials for brands such as Puma, Boohoo, and Crocs.

While growing up in Laguna Beach, Asaly wasn’t particularly interested in her education like other kids her age. Rather, throughout her junior year of high school, her passion for photography led her to begin her first portrait series, “Summer Faces.” Asaly’s love for both film and photography especially took form as she received local attention from fellow classmates for the photos she was shooting of her closest friends.
Fast forward to 2018, still early on in her career, Asaly made headlines for her 26th birthday party which she threw on a New York City subway car. After her intended dinner plans fell through, Asaly, along with her family and friends, instead ate lobster and hung decorations while onboard the Broad Street-bound J train. It was a birthday celebration that would never be forgotten. Naturally, Asaly captured moments from the “party” and posted them to her Instagram feed. Her followers and fans went wild when they saw the impromptu birthday celebration.

Today, aside from her 689k Instagram followers and very impressive celebrity clientele, Asaly’s focus on portraying funky and genuine messages through her work remains. While she has a keen eye for unique angles and bright colors, her work especially sticks out as most of it is shot on film.
In a 2019 interview with Cosmopolitan, she went on to say that “film captures a vibe so much better than digital ever can and ever will, because it’s one moment, click….It’s just one shot.”

It takes someone as talented and artistic as Asaly to capture the perfect moment in time through her lens. As film can only capture a single moment, she has the ability to stop time and transfer it onto a frame of film. She also embraces her ability to alter the photos by enhancing the color hues and creating collages in an artistic and unique manner.
Despite being only 29 years old, Asaly’s special eye and talent for photography have already led her to so many amazing career opportunities. Some of which include traveling to Las Vegas, Turks and Caicos, and Italy alongside Kylie Jenner on her $250 million superyacht. These are the perks that come along with being one of the coolest and closest friend to the stars. Asaly’s career will only soar with more time and success. The future is hers to capture.
